ABOUT
Personal Profile
Danielle McIntyre is a self-taught free-motion embroidery artist. She draws with her sewing machine! In 2021, Danielle was selected to appear in the Visual Artists Association International Online Exhibition. She was also shortlisted in the VAA International and Emerging Artists Open. In 2022 she was also long-listed for the same award. Danielle was also a finalist in the North Wales Open 2021 at Theatr Clwyd, Mold.

She is inspired by cityscapes and landscapes and enjoys pairing monochromatic schemes with vibrant Liberty of London prints. Danielle began in this medium as a way of memorialising the places she has loved; Chester, Liverpool, North Yorkshire and North Wales. After numerous requests she began taking commissions on others’ special places. She enjoys replicating others’ memorable locations and adding her own twist with bold lines, prints and colours. Danielle was taught to sew by her grandmother and has since run a children’s clothing business. She now concentrates on producing her artwork and teaching sewing skills.

Danielle is currently exhibiting works at Telford's Warehouse, Chester, Bay Tree Gallery, Valley, Anglesey and Artworks2, Betws-y-Coed. She sells her work at The Gathering, Mold, Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, Greenfield Valley Centre, Emerald Interiors, Flint and at artisan markets.
Danielle was a high-school teacher for 15 years and now teaches Free-motion embroidery and sewing machine skills at Ruthin Market Hall, Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, Make C.I.C., Liverpool & Abakhan, Mostyn.
She also carries out workshops with schools and small groups.

Danielle grew up and lives in rural North Wales with her husband, 2 children and 3 dogs.
Danielle is passionate about the arts and especially finds inspiration in performing in musical theatre.

DOING IT DIFFERENTLY: My method
Using only the finest Liberty prints I create my work using a technique called free-motion embroidery. This involves using a sewing machine to 'draw'. It's time-consuming but a lot of fun!

Here's me in action; 'drawing' with my sewing machine.
